The Hearnshaw Cup, awarded to the SWVASL Cup A Division Champions, is named after the late Gordon Hearnshaw. A devout fan of Sheffield Wednesday, he moved to Teays Valley from England in the mid 70's. Not only did he help found Great Teays Soccer, he was a pioneer for the soccer league which eventually became the SWVASL. An excellent referee, he mentored many players and refs. He loved the game and died with his "boots" , as he called them, on. Gordon Hearnshaw was, and remains, a huge contributor to soccer in Southern West Virginia.

The Sam Rizk Memorial Trophy, awarded to the B Division Championship team, is named after the late Sam Rizk. Since the leagues inception, Sam served in several capacities, including state referee, state referee instructor, state referee administrator, coach, and last but certainly not least, as President of the Southern West Virginia Amateur Soccer League. Sam brought back to soccer a very important.aspxxect that many had long ago forgotten - sportsmanship. It was Sam's goal that everyone, from the referees to the players, enjoy the game with a good attitude.
